How to apply?
Application for HamMUN 2010 is now open! The application phase will end on October 1st 2010.
If you have any further questions regarding your application please send a mail to application[at]hammun.de.
Public Transport
We can offer all delegates from outside Hamburg tickets for public transport in Hamburg. The costs are already included in the delegate fee. Please note that according to transport authorities, citizens of Hamburg or the Hamburg Metropolitan Region are not allowed to use those tickets. Please indicate on your application form whether you require such tickets.
Application Information
You can apply either as a single delegate or as part of a delegation. However we encourage you to form delegations. This will help you in preparing for the conference and us in organizing country assignments and the conference itself. Applications from delegations will be given preference over individual applications for the purpose of country assignment.
Unlike in previous years we will not allocate countries on a first-come-first-served basis. Instead we will collect all applications until the end of the application phase. Any applications after October 1st will only be accepted if there are still seats available, on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Immediately after we receive your application, we will send you a mail confirming the receipt and asking you to transfer the delegate fee.
- As soon as we received your payment, you will get a mail confirming your participation in the conference. If you don't receive such a mail within 10 days of your payment, please contact us to clarify this point.
- If we receive both your application and your payment by October 1st you will be taken into consideration for country assignment. You will receive your assignment by October 10th.
- You will then be asked to write a Position Paper on your country's position on one of the topics in your committee. The deadline for submitting Position Papers will be November 11th. The aim is to assist you in preparing yourself for the conference and ensuring an adequate level of preparation for all participants. Further information concerning Position Papers will be available soon.
If you want to apply for the Security Council, the ICC or a 'major' country in any other committee, you should inform us of your MUN-experience. Please make use of the relevant fields on the application forms. Please tell us the names of the conferences, you've attended so far. This is more helpful than just the number of conferences. You can also mention experience in other simulations (e.g. Model European Parliament, Moot Court).
If you are new to MUN, don't be intimidated by this rule. We are still a beginner's conference. Only the SC-/ICC-seats and countries such as the USA or China will be allocated only to more experienced delegates.
Since we want to give participants from as many universities as possible the chance to take part in our conference, we decided to set the maximum number of delegates per university to 40. Once this number is reached, no further applications from that university will be accepted. You should also take note of the relevant limitations for SC- or ICC-applications.
Participation Fees
A fee of € 65,-- per delegate will be charged for delegates from universities inside Germany.
Delegates from abroad will be charged € 50,--.
You will be asked to transfer your fee to our account by October 1st 2010. If we do not receive the fee by this date, your application will be considered as withdrawn.

Withdrawal
Hopefully this will not occur, but if for any reason you have to withdraw your application for HamMUN 2010, PLEASE inform us immediately! There is hardly anything more embarrassing at an MUN-Conference than a large number of important (or even SC-) countries not being represented, just because those chosen to represent them did not show up or withdrew just a few days before. The closer we get to the conference, the more difficult it will be for us to fill newly vacant seats. Furthermore you should keep in mind, that you were propably only one out of many who applied for that specific country. How would you feel, if you applied for USA in the ECOSOC, were denied that assignment and later found out that the US were not even represented?
Refunds are only possible if you withdraw prior to November 1st 2010!
International Delegates
Please note that we can only accept applications from international delegates if they
a) do not require visa to enter Germany
or
b) already have a valid visa.
So please make sure you can get a visa before you apply for a seat at HamMUN 2010!
Unfortunately we are not able to assist you in any way (issuing formal obligations, contacting the embassy) in obtaining visa at the german embassy in your country.
